Platforms

Flame I: PeSSuCAN LINK CARE

SS Student Wellness Support & Competencies. Mental health support should not be reactive; it should be consistent and accessible.

Mindflame: SS Cares Wellness Seminar

Aligning itself with the value of Cura Personalis, the SS Cares Wellness Seminar's key objective is to conduct a wellness seminar (1) and create peer-led safe spaces (2) and partnerships (3) with campus support units. Through strengthened collaboration with the Center of Psychological Extension, Research, and Services (COPERS), the College Guidance, Wellness, and Testing Center (CGWTC), and the Peer Consulting Program (PCP), this platform ensures that Social Sciences students have practical, regular support systems for stress management.

Dragons' Care: Certified Training on Psychological First-Aid (PFA) and First-Aid (FA)

The key objective of this is to equip SS students with life skills that are useful in their day-to-day lives. By linking the ADDU Red Cross Youth Council (CRCY) with the Center of Psychological Extension, Research, and Services (COPERS), together with the ADDU National Service Training Corps (NSRC), we will create a space to develop the emergency response and peer-support competencies of our fellow Dragons. In collaboration with professionals and trained personnel, we'll gather SS Dragons who want to learn PFA and FA. Participants will receive certificates as proof of having completed the training.

Flame II: PeSSuCAN LINK LEARNING

Academic Support & Skill-Building Services. Academic excellence should be supported, not assumed. This pillar links academic demands with direct, practical assistance to skills that align with SS identity.

Ash-ignment Kit: Academic Aid Tools

The key objective of this is to aid SS students during examinations. Through a partnership with the SAMAHAN Department of Academic Affairs (DAA) and the Ateneo de Davao Scholars Society (ADDSS), the SS SCALES, the Social Sciences Academic Affairs Committee, will (1) allocate funds for a free reviewer printing service for the first 100 students (up to 15 pages each) through a voucher system, and (2) simple but meaningful tools such as affirmation pens for another first 100 students through a voucher system as well.

Thesis Wyrm: Research Workshops

The key objective of this is to equip SS students with strong research skills. Research is the vehicle of education, especially in the Social Sciences programs. Through the SS SCALES, the Social Sciences Academic Affairs Committee, we will create workshops on quality research writing, using statistical tools for research (e.g., SPSS, JASP, etc.), and navigating research journals (e.g., JSTOR, Elsevier, Google Scholar, etc.).

The Ember Editor: Public Speaking and Journalism Workshops

The key objective of this is to develop the critical thinking skills of Social Sciences students. Oral recitations and essay writing are among the key academic learning measures in Social Sciences programs. This can also be a good training ground for our constituents as this prepares students to practice responsible discourse and fact-checking in digital spaces. Through a partnership with Ateneo Debate Varsity (ADV) and Ateneus, The Dragon Post, the official student publication of the Social Sciences cluster, will host workshops on public speaking tips and news writing.

Through these, we train SS students to be more research-oriented and equip SS student-writers with skills to analyze day-to-day social issues. Real representation means giving students real academic tools.

Flame III: PeSSuCAN LINK TALENT & SPIRIT

Talent Development & Unified Cluster Pride. Talent deserves structure. Spirit deserves organization. This pillar ensures Social Sciences dancers, musicians, athletes, and performers are properly supported, fairly funded, and publicly recognized.

The Transparadrake: Budget Allocation Transparency for Talent Programs

The key objective of this is to ensure a more transparent and supportive SS SEC to HYDRA and DRACARYS, the resident dance and music ensembles of the Social Sciences cluster. Through the Office of the Internal Vice President, specifically the Talent Committee Heads, we ensure that (1) there is a clear and fair budget support for SS Talents (e.g., food, training expenses, costumes), (2) there is a consistent presence of the SS SEC throughout their preparations, and (3) maintain an open communication between the SS SEC and our Talents.

Dragon's Flight: SS UFest and Palaro Send-Off Program

The key objective of this is to (1) gather SS participants and athletes before they enter the battleground (the flight), (2) familiarize themselves with other fellow participants, and (3) boost their overall morale. Through the Office of the Internal Vice President, Office of the External Vice President, specifically the Talent and Sports Committee Heads, we create an SS UFest and Palarong Atenista Send-Off program. This may be simple, but it shows that SS SEC is there for the ones who continue to bring pride to our cluster.

Dragon's Roar: SS Cheer Committee (SCC)

Student participation is often a real challenge in the Social Sciences. This year, through the Office of the Treasurer and Auditor, we will create a place for the SCC under the Logistics Committee. The SCC will now be in charge of (1) conceptualizing banner designs, (2) parade formation during UFest and other events where there might be a parade participated by SS, (3) developing SS Chants, and (4) taking care of our parade paraphernalia (e.g., drums, flags, banners, etc.).

Flame IV: PeSSuCAN LINK TRUST & DIRECTION

Synodal, Intentional/Strategic, & Spiritual Leadership. Representation is not just presence; it is accountability. This pillar strengthens governance, communication, and inter-cluster coordination.

Reportagon: Semestral Release of Financial Reports + Always-open Feedback Forms

The key objective of this is to promote accountable leadership through semestral financial reports (1), and an always-open feedback form (2) to create a clear concern-tracking system. Here, the operational definition of an "always-open" form is a GForm link that is pinned in the SS SEC FB page. First, through the Office of the Treasurer and Auditor, the Office of the Public Relations Officer shall publish a summarized financial report of the SEC at the end of every semester. Second, through the Office of the Public Relations (OPRO), the Office of the President-StRAW (OP), and the Office of the Secretary-General (OSG), we create a Google Form that will be open to the public via the social media pages of SS SEC and SS StRAW. Through this, the council makes itself more visible and accessible, and students remain informed about how their concerns are addressed and how resources are utilized.

Hatchling's Guide: SS Student Guidebook

Designed for first-year students, this digital mini handbook contains condensed, important information on existing school policies to brief the freshies. Through the Office of the Public Relations Officer (OPRO) and the Office of the Secretary-General (OSG), we will mobilize the Creatives and Communications Committee to create the guidebook. It will include (1) the SS SEC's identity, description, and mandate, (2) committees under the SS SEC, with contact information (e.g., emails, FB page), (3) most essential school policies like (3.1) grade computation, (3.2) absences and tardiness, (3.3) elevator etiquette, (3.4) uniform policies, and others.

The Consultaflame: Monthly EVP & Program Representative Consultation

The key objective of this is to maintain close contact with SS SEC and the Program Representatives. True to its mandate, the future External Vice President will (1) conduct monthly online consultation meetings to allow the Program Representatives to voice their program concerns; (2) the concerns gathered will be forwarded by the SS SEC EVP to the 7th Student Assembly; (3) from there on, the SS SEC EVP shall endorse or collaborate with the assembly on possible legislative measures or actions.

The Dragon's Forge: Capacity-building workshops for SS SEC officers

To realize all these initiatives, we will ensure that we offer the best and skilled SS SEC officers to the SS Cluster. The key objective is to train newly accepted and appointed SS SEC officers to better serve their constituents. Through linking the past administrations and tapping resource speakers, we will conduct capacity building for each office to teach administrative and technical tasks such as (1) concept paper making, (2) budget proposal making, (3) minutes of the meeting making, (4) public relations matrix/scheme making, (5) communications plan making, (6) room reservation procedures, and etc. This tells us that before we step into the work, we ensure that our officers are competent, efficient, and skilled to work.
